When the fair closed\, Japanese landscape architect Makoto Hagiwara continued to maintain the garden until 1942 when he and his family were interned during World War II. Today\, the Japanese Tea Garden features an arched drum bridge\, pagodas\, stone lanterns\, stepping stone paths\, native Japanese plants\, serene koi ponds and a Zen garden. Cherry blossom trees bloom throughout the garden in March and April. \nGeneral Admission: Adults $10\, Seniors (ages 65+ w/ID) and Youth $7\, Children (ages 5-11) $3\, Children (under 5) FREE. Discounts for San Francisco residents. \nThe garden is open daily from 9:00am - 4:45pm with last entry at 4:15pm. Enjoy a free hour on Monday\, Wednesday and Friday 9:00am - 10:00am.

SUMMARY:Hanami at Hakone Night Viewing
DESCRIPTION:Hanami is the practice or custom of viewing cherry blossoms when they are in full bloom. What better place to experience Hanami than at Hakone Estate and Gardens in Saratoga. The gardens are a fascinating place to visit any time of the year\, but come alive during the cherry blossom season. During this time\, Hakone opens its gates to night viewing every weekday from March 23rd - April 15th @5:30pm - 9pm. Tickets are $10-15. \nA special fundraiser Hanami & Highballs at Hakone will be held on April 5th 6pm - 9pm. The fundraiser is $500 (tax deductible)\, and RVSP is required by March 31st.
