The New Ballet's "San Jose Nutcracker" will be held at the California Theatre in San Jose. This beloved production transforms the classic Nutcracker tale to turn-of-the-century San Jose, incorporating historical elements to celebrate the region's innovative spirit. The show features landmarks of that era, with new scenic elements like a replica of the historic San Jose Light Tower and a 1905-inspired San Jose skyline. The first act's costumes draw inspiration from period dolls archived by History San Jose, while the second act reflects the valley's past, known as "The Valley of Heart's Delight", with orchard blossoms.
The production includes professional dancers from New Ballet, students from the American Ballet Theatre Certified training program, the Ragazzi Boys Chorus, and dancers from Los Lupenos Juvenil.
