Earth Day On The Bay

April 20 @ 10:00 am - 5:00 pm

Join in the celebration of Earth Day with us! We offer a variety of events both on land and at sea to keep everyone's hands busy and hearts engaged in honoring our planet.

Discovery EcoVoyage

10 - 12 pm, 1 - 3 pm, and 3 - 5 pm

Embark on an unforgettable SF Bay adventure aboard the Robert G Brownlee, our 90' research vessel! Join us as we set our fish trawl to uncover the various swimming species cruising beneath the waves. Explore the secrets of the bay's depths as we pull up a bottom sample, revealing hidden treasures buried in the mud. Then, dive into the enchanting world of plankton, discovering the tiny wonders that make our ecosystem thrive. This immersive experience promises excitement and discovery for all ages.

Shoreside Discovery and BioBlitz

10 - 12 pm, 1 - 3 pm, and 3 -5 pm

Dive into a world of scientific discovery as we embark on a mission to identify and document as many Bay species as possible within our collection area. By uploading our findings to iNaturalist, a renowned open-source database, we contribute to global scientific knowledge and policymaking.

Explore various stations dedicated to scientific inquiry, including trash timelines—a fascinating journey tracing the lifecycle of waste in our ecosystem. Delve into the intricate network of California's watersheds, learning about their importance and impact on our environment.

This event is the perfect opportunity for friends and families to come together, working hand in hand to capture a snapshot of our waterfront's rich biodiversity.

Lunchtime Excitement

12 - 1 pm

Extend the fun with exciting lunchtime music and dancing! Pack a picnic lunch and hang out before or after your program. While you're here, don't miss the chance to explore our aquarium, where you can marvel at our baby leopard sharks, captivating flatfish, and shy rocky shore invertebrates, among other fascinating creatures. It's the perfect way to round off your Earth Day experience! Reservations are complimentary with paid registration for other Earth Day events. Come join the celebration!
