A literary evening exploring the ecological history of the California coast — of local interest given Silicon Valley's proximity to Monterey Bay and the historic canneries that shaped the region. Author Joseph Ogilvy discusses his book Tin Can Coast, which traces 300 years of coastal history through three marine species — abalone, sardine, and tuna — caught up in fishing, geopolitics, and conservation battles from the 18th century through Cannery Row's rise and fall. Ogilvy will be in conversation with James Workman, author of Sea Change and Heart of Dryness.
