From twinkling neighborhoods to immersive light experiences, these destinations promise a brilliant holiday adventure for all ages. Christmas Tree Lane

Christmas Tree Lane has been a beloved Palo Alto tradition for decades, but details for this year's festivities are yet to be confirmed. Typically, this enchanting event features carolers, vintage lawn displays, and thousands of sparkling holiday lights, creating a magical experience for both pedestrians and drivers. Be sure to check back soon for updates on whether this year’s event will light up the season once again!

Los Altos Festival of Lights Parade

A cherished annual tradition in Los Altos, the parade features local school marching bands, an array of floats including the Teddy Bear, Mother Goose, and Ferris Wheel, alongside dancing elves, and, of course, Santa Claus. If you can’t make it in person this year, you can still watch the parade via livestream.

Magical Memories Holiday

The Carriage Ride Program has concluded following the operator's retirement. In its place, Los Gatos introduces its newest tradition: Magical Memories Holiday, featuring complimentary hop-on, hop-off trolley rides and visits with Santa at Old Town. Fantasy of Lights

Celebrating 26 years, Fantasy of Lights has become a cherished holiday tradition. This enchanting event invites you to a magical evening either from the comfort of your vehicle or on a leisurely walk through the park. As you drive, tune into holiday music on your car radio to accompany the large animated displays, or enjoy the festive lights on a stroll with family and friends. Highlights include the thrilling Dinosaur Den with an erupting volcano, Santa playing basketball, playful penguins, blazing pirate cannons, and tunnels of moving lights. With over 50 themed displays and a magnificent 90-foot twinkling tree, you’re sure to be captivated at every turn during this festive adventure. Enjoy food trucks and beverages from Moveable Feast, along with festive holiday photo opportunities! New for 2024: enjoy a drone show on walk-through nights at 6:15 PM! Tickets for both Drive-thru and Walk-thru experiences must be purchased online in advance.

California's Great America WINTERFEST

WinterFest at California’s Great America returns, shining brighter than ever as the park transforms into a festive winter wonderland. Enchant Christmas, billed as the World’s Most Magical Christmas Light Maze & Village, is set to illuminate PayPal Park, home of the San Jose Earthquakes, once again. From trees that sparkle 80 ft. in the air, to enormous Christmas ornaments, a narrative-driven maze adventure and millions of shimmering lights, Enchant offers an array of holiday activities, ensuring a memorable experience for all:

Santana Row Holiday Events

Explore the unique holiday decorations while enjoying all that Santana Row has to offer this holiday season:

  • Santana Snow Showers: It’s snowing on The Row every Tuesday & Saturday from 6pm to 8 pm in December! Santana Row brings the North Pole to San Jose for a festive, holiday celebration.
  • Spirit of the Row: Get into the Spirit of The Row, every Tuesday in December leading up to Christmas from 6 pm to 8 pm. Enjoy performances by local community groups on the main stage in Santana Row Park as well as photos with Santa.
  • Santa Paws: Pets are invited to Park Valencia at Santana Row for photos with Santa Claus on Sunday, December 8th, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. All proceeds will benefit Humane Society Silicon Valley, with a minimum donation of $10 for each pet photo. The event will also feature fun games and prizes for everyone to enjoy.
  • Hannukah Celebrations: Celebrate Hanukkah at Santana Row’s Park Valencia on Sunday, December 29, from 4:00 PM to 6:30 PM. Enjoy a menorah lighting, kids’ activities, live music, and more!

Christmas in the Park

Christmas in the Park is an annual holiday tradition in the heart of Downtown San Jose at the Plaza de Cesar Chavez. Each year, the two-acre park transforms into a holiday wonderland with over 40 musical and animated exhibits, glittering lights, and a 50-foot illuminated Christmas Tree. The festive season kicks off with the Tree Lighting Ceremony on November 29th at 6:00 PM. Stroll through an enchanted forest of community-decorated trees, enjoy a winter wonderland of lights, songs, and daily local entertainment.

After a long summer at the North Pole, Santa returns to Christmas in the Park from November 29th to December 24th. Bring your camera to capture magical moments with jolly Old Saint Nick!

"Christmas in the Park" Drive Thru Light Show

Cruise through dazzling light tunnels, festive buildings, and giant candy canes in a spectacular drive-through light show synchronized to your favorite holiday tunes. Dave's Christmas Lights Benefiting Make-a-Wish

For almost 20 years, this Willow Glen house at 1851 Cherry Ave has been displaying Christmas Lights to raise money to support sick children. You're invited to see the Christmas display, and leave a tax-deductible donation at one of the curbside bins or online at Make-a-Wish Foundation. Mr. and Mrs. Claus usually make an appearance!

Plan to make a night of it! Willow Glen is known for its holiday light displays and Christmas trees so take some time to tour this San Jose neighborhood.

Roaring Camp Railroads Holiday Lights Trains

Holiday Tree Walk: Embrace the holiday spirit with a 75-minute roundtrip ride aboard the Redwood Forest Steam Train through the wintry redwoods to Bear Mountain. Meet Santa Claus, sip hot cocoa, and enjoy winter-themed activities in town. View the full schedule and book your tickets online.

  • Date: The Redwood Forest Steam Train departs daily. Special Holiday Tree Walks are available on November 29 to December 1, December 7–8, 14–15, and 21–22.

Holiday Lights Train: Alternatively, hop aboard the Santa Cruz Beach Train departing from the Santa Cruz Boardwalk. Ride in train cars adorned with thousands of colorful lights as you pass through Santa Cruz neighborhoods. Enjoy a visit from Santa, hot-spiced cider, live music, and a festive holiday sing-along. This holiday season, explore over a half-mile of dazzling displays at the Santa Cruz County Fairgrounds. Marvel at towering Christmas trees, Santa, reindeer, snowmen, illuminated tunnels, and more—all from the comfort of your car with holiday carols playing on your radio. Find the perfect gift for your loved ones at the Heritage Holiday Craft and Gift Fair on Friday, December 6, and Saturday, December 7, from noon to 9 PM. Enjoy delicious food from the Heritage Holiday Kitchens, then stroll through the enchanting Holiday Lights display for a festive family outing! Gilroy Gardens Holiday

The magic returns to Gilroy Gardens in the form of North Pole Nights where the entire park is transformed into the North Pole, with new friends and new adventures throughout. Explore Santa's Workshop, write a letter to Santa, and take a stroll through the animated musical Light Tunnel. Enhance your visit with ice-skating, cookie baking in Mrs. Claus' Cookie Corner, or savor a holiday feast.

New for 2024: Explore the Reindeer Roundup Trail, where Santa's nine reindeer have surprises, toys, and treats waiting for you. Don’t miss this magical addition to North Pole Nights!

North Pole Nights at Gilroy Gardens features the musical show "The Magic of Santa," featuring delightful characters such as Rudy the polar bear, Skitter the mouse, and Tinsel the dancing Christmas tree. Keep an eye out for a special appearance by Santa himself! This vibrant, family-oriented performance is included with park admission and occurs multiple times each evening. Join in the singing and dancing to help the characters convey their wishes to Santa, creating holiday magic in the process!
